ClicTabs Help
Getting started
Click the ClicTabs icon and press "Save this window". That's your first session. Tip: pin the icon to your toolbar (puzzle icon → pin ClicTabs). No account is needed for the free version.
Save
"Save this window" saves the window you're in. "Save all windows" saves everything. Tabs, pinned tabs and tab groups (with their names and colors) are kept. Incognito windows are never saved.
Snapshots and the calendar
ClicTabs takes a snapshot of all your windows every 30 minutes and whenever a window closes, on its own. Open "All sessions": the calendar on the left has a dot under every day that has something. Click a day to see what was open, then reopen everything or tick the tabs you want. Snapshots are kept in full for 7 days, then one per day for 90 days. Sessions you saved yourself are kept until you delete them.
Chrome crashed
On restart, ClicTabs shows "Chrome closed with N tabs yesterday at … Reopen all?". Click "Reopen all", or "Pick tabs" to choose. If you missed it, the last snapshot is in the calendar.
Restore
Restored tabs open asleep: they show their title and load when you click them, so even 200 tabs won't freeze your computer. Groups come back with their names and colors. Pages that need a login reopen on their login screen.
Undo
After you delete a session, an "Undo" button shows for 8 seconds. After that, it's gone.
Export and import
Export any session as a page (HTML) or a data file (JSON) from "All sessions". Import your OneTab list (paste the text from OneTab's "Export") or your Session Buddy file (JSON) from Settings → Import. Free.
Daily backup to Google Drive (Pro)
Settings → Daily backup to my Google Drive → Turn on. Google will ask you to let ClicTabs create files in your Drive. Every day ClicTabs writes two files to a folder named "ClicTabs Backups": a page you can open anywhere, and a data file. 30 days are kept. "Back up now" does it immediately. "Open my backup folder" takes you there.
Restore from Drive (another computer or profile)
Install ClicTabs, sign in with the same Google account, Settings → Restore from Drive, pick a day. Your sessions come back.
"Last backup failed"
Usually you're offline or Google asked to sign in again. ClicTabs retries on its own. If it keeps failing, Settings → Sign out, then sign in again and turn the backup on.
Why does Chrome say "Read your browsing history"?
It's Chrome's standard wording for any extension that can see tab titles and addresses. ClicTabs needs that to save your tabs. It reads them only when you save or when a snapshot is taken, and they stay on your computer.
Where is my data?
On your computer. If you uninstall ClicTabs, Chrome deletes your sessions: export them first, or keep the Drive backup on.
