The problem

"Updated and all my tabs are gone"

You've read that review. Maybe you've written it. A browser update, a crash, a cleanup tool, and weeks of research tabs vanish. Chrome's own "recently closed" list only remembers a few. Nothing keeps a copy you can actually see.

How it works

How ClicTabs works

1. One click to save. Save this window or all windows: tabs, pinned tabs, groups with their names and colors.

2. It takes snapshots while you work. Every half hour, and whenever a window closes. If Chrome crashes, ClicTabs asks you on restart: "Reopen your 147 tabs from yesterday?"

3. Go back to any day. A calendar shows every day with a snapshot. Click a day, see exactly what was open, reopen everything or just the tabs you pick.

The signature feature

A time machine for your tabs

Other tools save a list when you remember to click. ClicTabs remembers for you. Last Tuesday's research, the ten shops you compared on Saturday, the window that closed by mistake an hour ago: pick the day, and it's back.

Restore without the freeze

200 tabs back, no freeze

Restored tabs open in a sleeping state and load only when you click them. Your computer doesn't notice. Tab groups come back with their names and colors.

Your own backup, in your own Drive (Pro)

Your backup, in your Drive, where you can see it

Turn on the daily backup and ClicTabs writes a file to a "ClicTabs Backups" folder in your Google Drive every day: a page you can open on your phone, and a file you can restore on any computer. We never see it. It's your Drive, your file. 30 days of history.

Private by design

It stays on your computer

  • Your sessions and snapshots are saved on your computer. They are never sent to us.
  • The Drive backup goes to your own Google Drive, and ClicTabs can only see the files it created there.
  • No account needed for the free version. No tracking.
  • The only thing our server ever knows, if you go Pro, is your email and whether your plan is active.

FAQ

Questions

Is the free version really unlimited?

Yes. Save as many sessions as you like, with as many tabs as you like. Snapshots, the calendar and crash recovery are free too. Pro is only the Drive backup.

Where are my sessions stored?

On your computer, inside Chrome's storage for this extension. If you uninstall ClicTabs, Chrome deletes them, so export first, or keep the Drive backup on.

What goes into my Google Drive?

Two files a day, in a folder named "ClicTabs Backups": a readable page and a data file, with the titles and addresses of your saved tabs. ClicTabs can only see files it created. It can't read anything else in your Drive.

Do you see my tabs?

No. Your tab titles and addresses never leave your computer, except to your own Google Drive if you turn the backup on. Our server only knows your email and your plan.

Why does Chrome say "Read your browsing history"?

That's Chrome's standard warning for any extension that can see tab titles and addresses. ClicTabs needs that to save your tabs. It reads them only when you save or when a snapshot is taken, and keeps them on your computer.

What about incognito tabs?

Ignored. Never read, never saved.

Which browsers?

Google Chrome on a computer. Other browsers may come later.

What's the lifetime license?

One payment of $29, the Drive backup and every update, for as long as we offer ClicTabs. No subscription.

When does it launch?

Very soon on the Chrome Web Store. This page will show the install button on launch day.
